Meteorite

Mateoriteca is inspired by the Latin words *materiae* and *bibliotheca* —a collection of materials. It is a place where inspiration, materials, and ideas come together. Developed in our Tallinn showroom, Mateoriteca brings together European brands committed to quality and sustainability—both in form and material.

It is both a source of inspiration and a sample library where you can explore fabrics, rugs, tiles, plaster, stone, and wood—a collection we have curated and expanded over more than a decade.

SPRING APERITIF

The Mateoriteca 1.0 event was born out of a desire to share our world of materials—to open up new directions, simplify choices, and bring closer the materials that define a space’s character.

On April 1, we took a curated selection of our samples out of storage to breathe new life into them and inspire architects, interior designers, and other creative minds. We believe that the lively spring evening we spent together celebrating design sparked fresh ideas that will hopefully blossom soon!

  • Dark balance and depth
The Vipp desk served as a stage for a darker, more concentrated world. Carpet Amini Carpet designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, Salvatori’s dark stone surfaces, wood, and glass by ADL and Lualdi created a strong, architectural, and serene ensemble. It was a space where light did not dominate, but rather emphasized the depth and weight of the materials.

  • Inspired by Mexico – black-and-white archival photos met with vibrant patterns and tropical motifs. Palm leaves, flowers, and bold hues created a cheerful and bold environment that isn’t afraid of color or pattern. It was a reminder that design can also be playful, emotional, and liberating.

  • Springtime lightness and the softness of materials
The delicacy of white flowers met warm orange and soft earth tones. Silky Amini rugs, Nobilis fabrics, and Salvatori stone surfaces created a balance between the delicate and the substantial. ADL glass doors, featuring a fine metal mesh inside, added a delicate golden glow to the space—light played across the surfaces and brought the entire composition to life.

  • Contrasts and Balance
The latest composition played with opposites: black and white, soft and rough, warm and cold. Sheepskin met metal, and the sharpness of concrete was softened by the presence of wood. It was an exploration of how the tension between materials creates a space that is both powerful and inviting.

  • Nordic light and understated luxury
Light, natural tones—white, bone, sand, and soft gray—created a serene and timeless atmosphere. Here, the effect lay not in color but in texture: Meridian fabrics, Amini rugs, and Matteo Brioni’s clay finishes worked together to demonstrate how a seemingly modest space can become deep and layered. It was an example of how “quiet luxury” is born in the details.

  • A Dialogue Between Morocco and Modernism
Yves Saint Laurent’s composition, inspired by his Moroccan home, brought shades of clay, copper, and burnt orange into the space. Bold fabrics from Dedar and Nobilis met Cotto Manetti tiles, creating a warm and intense atmosphere. We also added fabrics inspired by the textiles of Anni Albers —one of the most important textile artists of the Bauhaus, who brought architectural thinking and systematic patterning to weaving. The influence of her work is still evident in contemporary textile design—geometry, rhythm, and the honesty of the material. This combination brought together craftsmanship, modernism, and an exotic atmosphere into a single whole.
