MATEORITECA

Mateoriteca is inspired by the Latin words *materiae* and *bibliotheca* — a collection of materials. It is a place where inspiration, materials, and ideas come together. Our showroom in Tallinn brings together European brands committed to quality and sustainability — in both form and material.

It is both a source of inspiration and a sample library where you can explore fabrics, rugs, tiles, plaster, stone, and wood—a collection we have curated and expanded over more than a decade.

The Mateoriteca 1.0 event was born out of a desire to share our world of materials—to open up new directions, simplify choices, and bring closer the materials that define a space’s character.

On April 1, we took a curated selection of our samples out of storage to let them breathe and inspire architects, interior designers, and other creative minds. We believe that the lively spring evening we spent together celebrating design sparked fresh ideas that will hopefully blossom soon!

MOODBOARD COLLECTIONS

  • The combination began with delicate white blossoms that met Dedar’s iconic Tiger Mountain fabric: a bold pattern in warm, soft, earthy tones. We juxtaposed this dynamic tension with the spring meadow tones of an Amini silk rug, Nobilis’ orange fabrics, and Salvatori's stones, whose raw, natural texture is perceptible even from afar. ADL glass doors, featuring a delicate metal mesh inside, added a subtle golden glow to the space—light played across the surfaces, bringing the entire composition to life.

  • The inspiration came from Mexican culture, where the energy of life is captured in colors. Deep black-and-white archival photos of 1930s Mexico’s rustic charm provided a counterpoint to the explosion of colors, striking patterns, and tropical motifs. The result is an environment that evokes joy, excitement, and surprise. It is a reminder that design can also be playful, emotional, and liberating.

  • The Vipp430 desk, with its Bosco leather and walnut frame, served as a stage for a darker, more concentrated world, anchored by the a carpet in Amini's collection designed by Rodolfo Dordoni. Salvatori’s dark, textured stone surfaces, wood, and ADL and Lualdi glass and metals created a strong, architectural, and robust ensemble.

  • On the Meridian bed rests two combinations that played with opposites: black and white, warm and cold, soft and strong. Sheepskin met crisp metal; the sharpness of the stones softened next to the wood; bold patterns found balance alongside smooth leather and clay plaster. It was an exploration of how the tension between materials creates a space that is harmonious and inviting.

  • Light, natural tones—white, bone, sand, and soft gray—created a calm and timeless atmosphere. Here, the effect lay not in the color but in the texture: Meridian fabrics, Amini rugs, and Matteo Brioni’s clay finishes, among others, worked together to demonstrate how a seemingly understated space can become deep, layered, and rich. It was an example of how quiet luxury is born in the details.

  • In the living room, a dialogue between Morocco and modernism unfolded on Vipp's coffee tables. The Yves Saint Laurent museum, designed by Studio Ko, served as inspiration for the composition that brought shades of clay, copper, and burnt orange into the space. Bold fabrics from Dedar and Nobilis met Cotto Manetti and Cimento tiles, creating a warm and intense atmosphere. We also added fabrics inspired by the work of Anni Albers—one of the most important textile artists of the Bauhaus, who brought architectural thinking and systematic patterns to weaving. The influence of her work is still evident in contemporary textile design—geometry, rhythm, and the honesty of the material. This combination brought together craftsmanship, modernism, and an exotic atmosphere into a single whole.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who shared this evening with us!
