PROJECT NOVEL: VIP SUMMER HOUSE
A HOUSE WITH A HISTORICAL TOUCH
Echoes of the distant past live on in this fisherman's cottage, built in 1876, which once offered travelers a place to rest. The old house was about to be demolished when the Novel Design team saw its potential, but with a modern design that would pay tribute to nature, history, and Scandinavian design.
The house was dismantled log by log, numbered, and rebuilt on a 17-hectare plot surrounded by primeval forests, a fast-flowing river, and enchanting meadows. A revitalized retreat, perfect for those seeking peace and inspiration.
Enjoyment of the outdoor area is enhanced by large terraces on different levels, offering the opportunity to retreat and admire the beautiful views in privacy. Comfort and convenience are added by outdoor furniture and lighting from our partner brands. Vipp, Davide Groppi, Agape Bathrooms and Gervasoni.
DESIGNED TO TUNE OUT THE WORLD
Traces of the former fisherman's cottage remain: the expressive log walls and old wooden beams take you on a journey back in time. Coexisting with modernity adds nuance to the building. However, small changes have been made to the vacation home in the form of removing the ceilings and adding floor-to-ceiling windows, which make the building brighter and more airy. A cozy fireplace corner, modern interior, handcrafted details, and large glass doors create a pleasant atmosphere that is ideal for simply relaxing. As the glass doors are recessed into the floor, the boundary between the interior and exterior is almost invisible.
The first floor features an open-plan kitchen-living room, where old wood harmonizes with the jet-black modular Vipp V1 kitchen. The first of four kitchens Vipp's is characterized by raised legs, powder-coated steel front panels with molded silicone handles, and a 4 mm thick stainless steel worktop. The kitchen cabinets have steel shelves and the drawers contain silicone inserts that can be customized for use. Vipp also offers a wide range of kitchen accessoriesthat are in harmony with the rest of Vipp's .
When the weather is not nice enough to eat outside, the Vipp494 dining table with its marble top and oak legs awaits you under a large window. The table is surrounded by Vipp481 chairs made of solid wood and leather, which exude classic Scandinavian design. The crowning glory is the Vipp586 paper pendant lamp hanging above the table, inspired by Japanese lanterns. The same design can also be found as a floor lamp in the living room.
The living room with its high ceilings provides an opportunity for the body and mind to relax. The Vipp Loft modular sofa and Vipp466 lounge chair with footrest invite you to enjoy the pristine nature of the Baltic countries in comfort by the fireplace.
The first floor also has a bedroom, where two Gervasoni Ghost beds invite you to sleep soundly between their sheets. Before falling asleep, you can immerse yourself in a book by the light of a Vipp521 table lamp, which rests on a Vipp421 side table. The room also offers the opportunity to concentrate on your work in peace at a rustic desk, balanced by a Vipp452 aluminum chair with an elegant frame and green leather back and seat. Adjacent to this bedroom is a bathroom, where Agape bathroom products help you take care of your body. Vipp921 aluminum shelves provide storage.
On the loft-like second floor, which overlooks the dining and living room, there is a large bedroom. The black wooden ceiling gives the room depth and effectively highlights the authentic wooden beams. A Gervasoni Ghost bed is centrally placed under the pitched roof. On either side of the comfortable bed, Vipp591 marble lamps stand like sculptures on Vipp423 marble side tables. The upper floor also features the striking Vieques bathtub from the Agape collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola.
