Astep's Model 2065 is a timeless masterpiece - the result of Gino Sarfatti's enlightened thinking in the 1950s, born out of a desire to experiment with new materials and forms. Two opal, saucer-shaped domes form an airy ellipse that appears to float freely from the ceiling. The simplicity of the luminaire, the lightness of the materials and the geometrical precision create an impression of effortless elegance - as if the light had been moulded into a soft, weightless object.
A modern version of the 1950s idea adds an important sustainability dimension to this timeless product. The diffusers are made from Green Cast® material: 100% recycled and fully recyclable PMMA, patented, produced in Italy and with an aesthetic and functional quality worthy of the original methacrylate. In this way, Sarfatti retains its original concept of light as a light, clean and innovative presence in a modern, environmentally conscious form.
