Astep Sorpresa - as the name suggests - is full of surprises. The slender-looking ceiling light opens in one smooth movement and instantly transforms into an airy sculpture. The dome, designed by Samuel Wilkinson, takes its cue from the traditional yarn spinner, translating its mechanical movement into a modern, poetic light object. The delicately sanded oak construction, which adds warmth and softness, is in harmony with the beautifully off-white, transparent mesh. The horizontal patterns of the latter give the luminaire its characteristic lightness and homely atmosphere.
Created according to the principles of responsible design, Sorpresa is made from recycled and natural materials. Instead of a built-in LED, it uses a bulb as the light source, making it easy to change the brightness, hue or energy efficiency level when needed and extending the life of the luminaire in every way.
